Philosophy and Promise
Sloka is a Steiner inspired school. Steiner education is multi-dimensional, appealing to all the faculties. For the young child, it is the 'all' that matters, rather than exceptional proficiency in one aspect. We want complete rounded personalities whose special gifts are nourished from a fuller source. Steiner education is truly a part of a universal understanding of the child. It is applicable to each child, irrespective of cultural roots, language, religious beliefs or geographical setting. Anthroposophy - the knowledge of the human being -- is the basis of Steiner education.
In keeping with Steiner philosophy, at Sloka, we believe that one of the most important lifelong interests a school can develop in our children is the joy of learning. We do this by showing them how to apply and advance their natural learning abilities. We focus on child-centric, age-appropriate learning with an emphasis on developing the child’s self esteem and confidence. Up to age 6 we build each child’s natural curiosity by enabling the child to imbibe knowledge and develop insights into Science, Language and Art from surroundings. The same teacher stays with our little ones from Class I to V, teaching each child through years of individualized attention. Children build their own books until class VII and then are transitioned to learning from prescribed text books. From Class VII upwards, our children are coached to develop a solid foundation on which they can pursue more independent learning and professions of their choice.
Sloka Promise
At Sloka, our passion is to develop young minds into tomorrow’s creative and independent thinkers
Our promise to each parent is to provide their children with a loving and caring environment, conducive to free imagination, independent thought and learning
Our teachers play a crucial role in our school. Since Steiner education is highly teacher-intensive, training is imparted to teachers throughout the year by visiting faculty from Waldorf schools in other countries. Teachers from Sloka visit other Waldorf schools to exchange ideas as part of continuous improvement. Our mission is based on a community of supportive parents, teachers, sponsors and friends who share a common vision of developing global citizens, not constrained by cultural stereotypes, religious beliefs or geographic limitations
Non-Discrimination Policy
Sloka – The Hyderabad Waldorf School is committed to fostering a fully inclusive school community and welcomes students and staff of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations and spiritual values.
